When inflamed and bleeding, clotting proteins build a clot which prevents bacteria and toxins from spreading to surrounding tissues
-The blood clot is replaced by granulation tissue
-Macrophages digest the original blood clot
-granulated tissue becomes scar tissue
-while the scab is there, cells regenerate under it and eventually resembles the adjacent skin
