They started an overall period of reform of evangelism. They wanted to outlaw slavery, include women's rights, school reform, and abolition.

Finney also changed the way people thought of God. He made people excited to learn about God and made them have a better relationship with him.

Charles Finney changed the way of preaching for many people. Instead of getting lectured by the priest in a stuffy room with no interest, the people of the church were very intrigued by the sermons that were filled with excitement and passion.
