Pro-Slavery Arguments

Some people who supported slavery used the bible to defend it. They said that in the bible, the slaves obeyed their masters. People started to believe that Christianity and slavery could both have an effect in the world at the time.

Slave owners wanted to make slavery seem not as bad so they came up with a myth about a salve who cherished working on the plantation.

Abolitionists would not stop campaigning for freedom and the tried to swamp the congress with revolts and petitions. In response to this, the congress made a rile called the gag rule which limited the amount of debate on a certain topic. After a while the gag rule was taken away.

Sadly the abolitionists started to get violent, and the problems eventually leads to the divided nation.
