Intolerable Acts
1774
King George the Third
In 1774, shortly after the Boston Tea Party, the Coercive Acts were enforced. These acts closed the Boston Harbor, banned town meetings, and forced the colonists to house British soldiers stationed there. These acts were meant to be punishment for the colonists because of the Boston Tea Party. They were so harsh that the colonists simply referred to them as The Intolerable Acts.
