Member of Virginia House of Burgesses. Henry persuaded the burgesses to take action against England. Because of this, the burgesses passed a resolution saying that only it had the right to tax its citizens.

Adams started the Sons of Liberty group which strived to ensure that the colonists' rights were protected.

During this time period, King George III feared that the colonists would gain independence and the British empire would decline. For this reason, the British government strived to keep authority over the colonists by sending soldiers to the colonies and passing more laws. This tactic, however, only made the colonists even angrier.
