Question 9-Locate and name the major body cavities and their subdivisions/ major organs in them
1)Dorsal Body Cavity-Protects the nervous system organs. It has 2 subdivisions, one, called the cranial cavity which protects the brain. The other one is the vertebral, or spinal cavity, which runs within the bony vertebral column, which protects the spinal cord.
2)Ventral Body Cavity-Protects more of the closed body cavity organs. There are also 2 subdivision. The thoracic cavity is surrounded by the ribs and muscles of the chest. This includes the lungs, heart, esophagus, and trachea. The other subdivision is called the Abdominopelvic cavity. This cavity is just below the ribs, and ends at the femur joint to the pelvis. It protects the stomach, intestines, spleen, liver, and other organs, the inferior part, the pelvic cavity is on the pelvis, and contains the bladder, rectum and some reproductive organs.
