Question 4-List functional characteristics necessary to maintain life in humans
1)Maintaining boundaries-This is so that its internal environment remains distinct from the external environment surrounding it.
2)Movement-This includes activities promoted by the muscular system.
3)Responsiveness-Or irritability, is the ability to sense changes in the environment, then respond to them.
4) Digestion-The breaking down of ingested foodstuffs to simple molecules that can be absorbed into the blood.
5)Metabolism- A broad term that includes all chemical reactions that occur within body cells.
6)Excretion-is the process of removing wastes from the body. It is the only way the body can perform well
7)Reproduction-It can occur at the cellular or organismal level, the job is to make a whole new person, which is the major task of this system
8)Growth-this is an increase in size of a body part or the organism, and usually accomplished by increasing the number of cells.
