Anatomy is.....
-The study of the structure of body parts and their relationship to one another.
Subdivisions:
1.) Gross/Macroscopic Anatomy: (large body structures that are visible to the naked eye)
And it includes: regional(all the structures on a particular region of the body are studied at the same time),systemic(anatomy is studied system by system), and surface(the study of internal structures as they relate to the skin's surface).
2.) Microscopic anatomy:
(Concerns structures too small to be seen by the naked eye)
And it includes: cytology(cells of the body) and histology(study of tissues)
3.) Developmental Anatomy:
( traces structural changes that occur in the body throughout the lifespan)
And it includes embryology( concerns developmental changes that occur before birth)
