Protein synthesis:
Transcription: transferring from a DNA genes base sequence to the complementary base sequence of an mRNA molecule. Only DNA and mRNA is involved in this process.
Triplet= a three base sequence on DNA
Codon= corresponding 3 base sequence on mRNA
Translation: the language of nucleic acids is translated into the language of proteins, or amino acids. The mRNA strand binds to the small ribosomal subunit. The amino acid is at one end of the tRNA, or the stem, and the other end, the head, is its anticodon. Eventually, a Polypeptide is made.
Anticodon= a three base sequence complementary to the mRNA codon calling for the amino acid carried by that particular tRNA
