How does a superficial wound heal?
1. Inflammation sets the stage- blood vessels bleed, inflammatory chemicals are released, white blood vessels and clotting proteins are released, it dries and forms a scab
2. Organization restores the blood supply-granulation tissue is formed, capitulary buds invade the clot, restoring vascular supply, collagen bridges the gap, surface epithelial cells go over granulation tissue
3. Regeneration and fibrosis effect permanent repair- approx. one week later the scar has gone and regeneration of epithelium is in progress
