Critical thinking.....
1.) If John has torn knee cartilage, he cannot expect a fast recovery because cartilage is avascular so it has no blood vessels running through it thus the cartilage does not regenerate as fast as connective tissue would.
2.) Epithelium is better suited for protecting external surfaces than a mucosa that has simple columnar cells because epithelium is stratified so it has many layers which makes it durable and squamous makes the cells flat so there can be multiple layers but not be too deep. Therefore it is strong but not super thick.
