French Twist Procedure

08 Updos: French Twist, Chignon, Draping

✔️Prepare and Section the Hair

-If hair has body: start w/dry hair, apply hair spray for manageability & control static.

-Curly/wavy: smooth it by setting on electricrollers or wet & blow dry w/paddle brush.

-Limp & straight: apply a spray styling product & set hair in 4–6 large volume curls then dry. This quick set will add body & slight movement to hair, making it more manageable.

✔️Create ear-to-ear part in front of ears to divide front of style from back, or section a triangle @ front hairline. Clip front section out of way.

✔️Brush hair. If needed for support, back-comb portions w/styling comb. Back-combing can be used as a tool for support or as a cushion to anchor pins. Common areas for back-combing are crown & down middle of back where pins will be placed.

✔️Tip head forward & use brush to smooth hair inward & slightly upward from nape, work up back of head & hold w/subordinate hand. Once bulk of hair is up, apply hair spray for support & manageability. Apply hair spray approximately 10" from the scalp.

✔️Hold hair in position w/palm of subordinate hand, w/thumb placed @ center, bottom of nape. Open bobby pin: Hold @ bottom, use finger @ tip to pry open.

✔️Place flat side of pin in hair against scalp @ nape. Slide pin in vertically & hold securely w/thumb of subordinate hand on bottom & index finger of same hand on top of pin.
