15 Marcelling
Marcel Waving Process (continued)
✔️Starting w/center panel, glide iron lightly over hair until it reaches 1st ridge of panel.
✔️Hold hair at elevation close to previously waved hair to match waves, but
high enough so iron doesn't touch wave underneath.
✔️Match wave to 1 below it & marcel in same direction.
✔️Continue the marcel procedure on adjacent panels.
✔️Work subsection by subsection, until enough length @ top of a panel to require adding another wave. This means there isn’t a wave underneath that part of hair.
✔️Add a wave as necessary, making sure that it goes in reverse direction 1 below.
✔️When waving the sides of head, stand on side.
✔️When you finish, wait for hair to cool thoroughly, lightly comb hair.
Surface Marcel:
when only the top layer of hair is waved. Follow same procedure as standard marcel,
except as follows:
✔️Start @ “heavy” side of part in front & wave entire front panel.
✔️Then move around head, matching up ridges, & marcel only top layer of hair. Turn ends under.
Vertical and Diagonal Waves:
Although marcel waves are usually horizontal, you can create vertical and diagonal waves using the same technique. Make sure to change your hand, comb, and iron positions to reflect the angle of the wave.
