Enzyme Activity:
Enzymes are proteins that act as biological catalysts which regulate and accelerate the rate of biochemical reactions but aren't used up or changed during those reactions. They keep metabolic pathways flowing, they increase the speed of reactions. Each enzyme is chemically specific and some control only a single chemical reaction, others have a broader specificity where they can bind with similar but not identical molecules, regulating small groups of related reactions.
-the presence of specific enzymes determines which reactions will be speeded up, and which reactions will occur (no enzyme= no reaction).
- Every chemical reaction requires activation energy, which pushes the reactants to an energy level where their random collisions are forceful enough to ensure interaction.
