DNA Replication
First, the DNA strands unwind from the nucleosomes. Then helicase, an enzyme, separates the nucleotide base pairs so that each strand becomes two. The strands then serve as a template to build new DNA strands. RNA primers start the DNA synthesis process. DNA polymerase III places the corresponding nucleotide base on each of the exposed template and bonds the pair. DNA ligand splices the small sections of DNA together. Once replication is finished, the strands become chromatin strands then join together as chromatids.
