2. In the second chapter, Jonas and her parents discuss about the Ceremony of Twelve. Before they talk about twelve, they talk about the other ages. At 1, a baby would be given a family, name, and a cuddling stuffed animal. At 8, a child would be given a new bike, but their stuffed animal would be taken away. There was also a law about a child, younger than eight , learning how to ride a bike. Although it was a law, many older siblings would secretly teach their younger siblings how to ride a bicycle. The last main ceremony was the Ceremony of Twelve. At that ceremony, a twelve-year-old would be assinged a job to study for. The Elders would pay attention to every child and decide the what the job would be.
