In the tenth chapter, Jonas goes to his fors day of training. He walkes with Fiona, but they split up to go to training. Jonas walkes into a building and then sees a woman at the front. He tells her that he is there for training and then she opens the locked gate. Jonas. Was surprised because he had never seen a locked door. The woman said it was just for the receivers concentration. As he walks in, Jonas sees many books lining the walls. He then realizes that a man is watching him, so he stopped staring at the books. Jonas apologizes many times to the man, but he tells Jonas that there is non time for apologies. Jonas is confused of his job band asks of his training. The man answers and tells Jonas that he has to train him with all of the knowledge of the past. He would then know the stories of the world before him, before the Receiver teaching him, and the Receiver before that one. The man also tells Jonas that his training will come with great pain. The man then tells Jonas to remove his tunic and lay down, face down, on the bed. He will give Jonas a memory of snow.
