In the fifteenth chapter, Jonas experiences war. The Giver is very painful and Jonas offers to help him by receiving a memory. The aGiver agrees and transfers war to Jonas. At first, Jonas is in a field with dying men asking desperately for water He sees a young man and then gives him water to drink. Jonas then feels an urging pain in his arm. He saw something that looked like flesh and bone. After Jonas gives the boy the water, all of the other men urge for water. After, Jonas knew that the pain was too great to fight any longer. Jonas then awakes on the bed after "dying". The Giver realizes the pain Jonas has gone through and apologizes.
