On the nineteenth chapter, Jonas experiences an actual release ceremony. this particular one was of his father releasing the lighter twin. The Giver turns on the speaker and asks for the video of the release ceremony. " Thank you for your instructions", the speaker replies. The television then turns on. Jonas sees his father enter a room with two twins. He weighs them and sends the heavier one with his assistant to be kept at the nurturing center. Jonas's father then takes a needle and a container with a liquid inside. He inserts the needle in the container and gets the liquid into the needle. He then walks over to the baby and inserts the needle into the forehead of the newborn. The newborn twin struggle and cries for a while until he then lays motionless on the table. Jonas's father then makes him clean and comfy in a basket. He then puts it down a chute that looks like a garbage chute. "He killed it!!! My father killed it!!!", Jonas thinks. He is then very mad at his father and yells in anger.
