11. In the eleventh chapter, Jonas is receiving the memory of snow. It starts off with the man putting his hands on Jonas's back. As they touch his back, they are cold and suddenly, the air also feels cold. He licks his lips as he feels the very cold air and then realizes that his breath is visible, something new to him. Jonas saw the snow as tiny little spots falling from the sky. He feels his hands on a rope attached to a sled. Jonas automatically knew what was what and what their names were. Jonas knew that the sled was propped on runners and that he was on a hill. Whoosh Suddenly Jonas slid down the hill on the sled and once at the bottom, he was pushing himself wishing that it hadn't ended. Jonas opened his eyes and saw that in real life, he was in the same position as he was before the memory. He looked at the man and he looked tired. The man said that it was because he had to pull that memory from when he was in training as well. They talked about how they wished that there were no climate control, but that wasn't their choice. Jonas got another memory of sunshine and how beautiful it was. Jonas then asked why this was going to be painful if it wasn't painful as far as he could see. The man gave him one last memory of sunburn. Jonas was where there was a lot of sunshine. He then tried to move, but he yelped in pain. He then yelled even more as he yelled because of his arm. He couldn't move at all without being hurt. OOOOOUUUUCCCCHHHH!!!!!! Jonas opened his eyes and told the man that it hurt so much that he didn't get to capture the word of it. "Sunburn," the man said to Jonas. Jonas then understood why it would hurt. Jonas's last question was what to call the man. He knew that he was the receiver, but Jonas was now the receiver, the replied by telling him to call him the Giver.
