The defenses continued behind the chalet in and above the cliff. On the map, red designates military installations, usually in built in concrete. Blue shows the trench system. The green line represents the barbed wire. The photos are of some of the closest German firing spots to the chalet. In the field above the house there was a mortar gun, behind "la Salle des Fetes" there was shooting bunker and behind Christian Cauvet's house there was a two gun emplacement in the cliff. However the biggest guns at Vierville were the one at the present monument (88mm PAK 43) and the one on the path up to the camping. They covered the beach to St Laurent.
