Jules Roulland, holding the horse? was born in 1852 in Isigny-sur-Mer. Most of the men in his family were gardeners or farm labourers, but he worked as a bailiff in Trevieres. His office building bears a gold shield above the door and still stands next to the church (on the altar end).
In 1918, during the last few hours of World War 1, Jules' good friend, a soldier, was killed in the field. His funeral was held in the church at Trevieres. Jules was a pall-bearer at the funeral and during the ceremony he himself dropped dead. He was 66 years old. The family was devastated.
